Jerry N. Uelsmann
He was born on July 11, 1934 in Detroit. He began teaching photography at the University of Florida, which he referred it as "my first job offer." Uelsmann got his B.F.A degree in 1957. In 1960 he received his M.S. and M.F.A. at Indiana Universtity. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1967 and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1972. Now he is retired and lives with his wife, Maggie Taylor who is an artist, in Gainsville, Florida.His photographs are in the permanent collection of many museums worldwide.
