Next shoot - Action/Sports
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- Stories
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio - With the story about the eating disorder, one judge thought that it could have been better and he has seen it made better. On the same story, one judge didn't really see any emotions and feelings behind them. There was no strong singles either.
List two things the judges like- They liked the picture with the guy sweeping because it had a really nice background to it and it complemented the picture good. They also liked the girl that fell in the hurdles becuase in the picture, you can see her legs just pointed out and her emotion. one of the judges liked the picture with the guys in the stairwell because there was a nice graphic to it.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?- My overall impression, was that some pictures could have been shot better whether it had been due to the lighting or what objects it had or possibly what it didn't have. Something that I did like was how in some pictures it told a story with the emotions that showed within the character.

Who does/did the situation affect?- it didn't really affect anybody, i mean the winners were happy and all. The directer of "The Hurt Locker" was shocked because even though "Avatar" did a lot better, the crew took home 6 Oscars home.
Who said so?- The author of the article sort of implied it.
What is happening?- "The Hurt Locker" took home 6 Oscars, along with other actors winning some too.

Location: Brussels, Belgium
Architect: AndrƩ Waterkeyn
Date Built: 1958, then reconstruction began in March 2004 and ended February 18, 2006
Reason for building: The original idea was to build it so that it looked like an upside-down version of the Eiffel tower. However, Waterkeyn felt that an atomic structure would be more symbolic of the era.
Public vs. Private: This is a public attraction
Cost: There is no info. on the cost of the original building, but restoration had a budget reaching 25 million euros.
My reason: I'm thinking that I'm really into futuristic kinds of architecture because I just think that it's cool looking and is just an eye-catching sort of thing. It looks like it came out of a movie and just placed there. I like how the structure of it is basically like spheres and not just a square of something. I mean it's not really a building, but just spheres and yea it's so cool. It's just something i would like to go see!
Architect: Santiago Calatrava
Date built: August 27, 2005
Location: Malmƶ, Sweden
Private vs. Public: It is a private residential building
Cost: SEK1.6 billion
Reason for the building: One reason for the building of Turning Torso was to re-establish a recognizable skyline for Malmƶ since the removal of the Kockums Crane in 2002, which was located less than a kilometre from Turning Torso.
My reason: I chose this building because it's something new to see, like it's not just an ordinary piece of architecture but it's unique. The fact that this place looks like a torso that seems to be twisted, which is probably why it got its name from, it has so much to it too like how green it is. For example, when heat is needed they use locally renewable energy. It's so cool becuase when you think of buildings as big as these and amazing as this you would imagine them wasting so much money on lights and heat and stuff like that, but this one is green and contributes with the earth:)
Date built: Construction began in 1994 and ended in 2000
Cost: No info.
Location: The beachfront area where the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel are located was previously called Chicago Beach. The hotel is located on an island of reclaimed land offshore of the beach of the former Chicago Beach Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Private vs. Public: This is a public building due to the fact that it is a hotel.
Reason for this architecture: it was designed to symbolize Dubai's urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a ship
My reason: I chose this building because not only is it one of the tallest buildings but on where its location is. I have never heard of such place with an artificial beach and all and the fact that it costs so much to get a room in this hotel or to eat in the restaurant, it should be like a dream. I had seen this building on the discovery channel once and it just amazed me because of its structure. It really swept me off of my feet when i realized that it was basically built on the beach like meaning inside the water! I mean that's just so cool!!

Cover History
Early Magazine Cover- These early magazine covers kinda jump started the process of making the next generation better and to just improve them. For example, in the early 1700's covers really didn't have covers such as we see in magazines now a days that actually have some design to it like wavy lines or some kind of pattern. It wasn't until the early 1800's and on that people decided that these covers should have some kind of thing to it like illustrations.
The Poster Cover- These covers were like pieces of art in just a paper. The art foreshadowed the magazine and it had so much to it. During this time, nobody could argue that this was the way to create such cover and they wanted to keep it going in that direction. Later on These covers started including actual photographs of the main person or the headline of which the magazine was going to be about. They started the whole taking a picture of a person and everything.
Pictures Married To Type- In this era, cover lines were more important when making a cover because that's where you go to look at what's inside the magazine and depending on how it looks it takes an impact on whether or not your gonna want to pick it up read it. As time went by, these cover lines had more expressions to them like for example "discovering new things" or something and it just attracted the reader more. Even though you have an amazing photograph, you also have to have something to go with them like amazing cover lines and that"s exactly what they did.
In The Forest Of Words- In these covers, there was more use of models and people rather than an artistic poster kind of cover. There are more vivid stuff going on in the cover than before and this was by the 2000's. Also, lines in the cover sometimes appeared larger than the actual name of the magazine like for example, the name "seventeen" might have been smaller in font than another name in the magazine like big news or something
20009 in review- The most important piece of world news
2009 in review- favorite photo
2009 in review- best song
I chose the song "Forever" by Drake ft. Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Eminem as my favorite song for 2009 because it included the best. They seriously killed the song and came out SOOO good! This song got stuck in my head forever (lol) and definately ♥ Eminem's part.

Plan for Portrait Assigment
Portrait and self-portrait tips and writing your ideas
2. You can create an especially revealing self-portrait by adding personal memorabilia surrounding your mirrored image, such as photos of yourself at various stages of your life, or anything that tells the viewer about your interests. Besides a mirror, a window can sometimes offer a reflective surface for you to capture your own image.
3. If you’ve got a subject or two or more who are just plain uncomfortable, seek out privacy for the shoot as much as possible. If you’ve got something in your head that you’re working towards and your subject just isn’t diggin’ it… drop it and move on to something else.

Winter Break
Well most of the time I just stayed home and played on the wii that I got for Christmas and played for hours. I didn't go anywhere out of the state but I did go to the mall and was grounded for the break so I really couldn't go out with my friends to the movies or fun stuff like that.
If I looked back at 2009 while being 225 yrs. old, I would remember being in tennis as an 8th grader and a freshman and how much fun it was and how of a new experience it was for me. I would also remember how much fun I had at UT sleeping over and just having fun with my friends and all the crazy things we did there. 2009 was also sad because I went from being in middle school to going to high school and all the people that I left behing, but also the new people that I have met along the way.
